1About MMI & Scope

MADRAS MECHANICAL INSTITUTE (MMI), 111, Egmore High Road, Egmore, Chennai – 600 008, is an ISO 9001:2015 certified and MSME registered training institute, established in 2008. These Terms & Conditions apply to every student who enquires, applies, enrols or studies at MMI, including our in-person Diploma courses. Online courses of MMI Global Skill Academy (mmigsa.com) follow their own terms on that website.

2Admission & Eligibility

• Admission is based on our selection process: Practical Test → Theory Test → Oral Test → One-to-one with the Chairman / Admission Counsellor Head. Fees are collected only after a student is selected.
• Course-wise age and education requirements are shown on our course pages.
• Every applicant must give true information and complete a Health & Safety Declaration at the admission interview. Admission is at the sole discretion of the institute, based on the student's suitability and workshop safety.
• False information, if found later, may lead to cancellation of admission.

3Fees & Payments

• All fees are + GST unless stated otherwise, and must be paid as per the schedule given at admission.
• For the 1-Year Diploma, fees may be paid module-wise as informed at admission.
• Project costs, hostel and other optional items (where applicable) are extra and are informed in advance.
• Books and uniform are issued after the fee is paid.

4Refund & Cancellation

• Fees once paid are non-refundable, as seats, materials and trainer time are reserved for the student.
• Fees are not refunded if a student is dismissed under the institute's rules.
• If MMI itself cancels a course or batch, the student may join the next batch.

5Attendance & Punctuality

• Students must attend every class on time. Late coming and unnecessary leave carry fines as given in the course rules.
• For any leave, a parent / guardian must inform the institute and the student must submit a letter with the reason.
• Required attendance is a condition for exams, service centre training and stipend.

6Exams, Records & Re-exams

• Record submission is compulsory for every class. Monthly theory and / or practical exams are conducted.
• Re-exam rules and re-exam fees are given in the course rules below.

7Certificate

Students who complete the course and pass the assessments receive an MMI Diploma from an ISO 9001:2015 certified institute.

8Service Centre Training & Stipend

• Service centre training is guaranteed for students who pass the exam with required attendance, at our MOU partner service centres.
• Eligible students receive a stipend of minimum ₹10,000 per month during service centre training, based on attendance and exam pass.
• This is a stipend-based training period, not a salaried job. After the course, MMI provides job and business guidance; final employment and salary depend on the student's skills and the employer.

9Workshop Safety

• Students must wear the MMI uniform and follow all safety instructions, especially for EV, high-voltage and lithium battery work.
• Tools, vehicles and equipment must be used only as instructed. Damage caused by careless or wrong use may be charged to the student.

10Code of Conduct & Discipline

• Tobacco, smoking, alcohol and drugs are strictly not allowed. Students found with them will be suspended or dismissed.
• Misbehaviour, fighting, bad language towards staff or students, or any act that harms the institute's reputation will be reviewed by a committee and may lead to dismissal.

11Institute Property & Project Vehicles

Tools, training vehicles, books given for class use and project vehicles remain the property of the institute. Vehicles used for student projects are handed over to the institute after the project.

12Photos & Media

Photos and videos taken during classes, events and graduation may be used by MMI for education and promotion. A student who does not wish to appear must inform the institute in writing.

13Privacy

Personal details are used only for admission, training, certification and communication. Please read our Privacy Policy.

14Changes to these Terms

For the welfare of students, MMI may update these Terms and the course rules. Rules are reviewed at the end of every batch. Changes will be informed to students through the notice board, WhatsApp or this website, and apply from the date they are informed.

15Limitation of Liability

MMI provides training, guidance and service centre training as described above. MMI is not responsible for decisions taken by employers, service centres or customers, or for losses arising from a student's own business.

16Governing Law & Contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
